Fashion in Tune: OutKast

"Fashion in Tune" is a weekly column that discusses trends that connect the worlds of fashion and music.

Long before Kanye's leather joggers, A$AP's song "Fashion Killa", or even Gaga's meat dress, there was OutKast, a hip-hop duo that has been making waves in the fashion world sense the early 90's. Consisting of Atlanta-based rappers, André 3000 and Big Boi, the group's music with influences ranging from jazz to electronic music has proven to be as eclectic as their sense of style. Whether dressed as 19th century dandies, 70's disco goers, or citizens of an extremely fashionable future, OutKast has shown the artists that follow just how much fashion can be used to enhance expression and originality without appearing gimmicky.

And while the pair have gone their separate ways to pursue solo careers, they will once again reinstate their relevance by reuniting this year by headlining at Coachella, as well as performing at countless of other festivals in celebration of their 20th anniversary.
