LOUIS VUITTON SERIES 2 EXHIBITION
I may not have been invited to sit in front rows during the ongoing New York Fashion Week, but I felt that I experienced something equally powerful and perhaps even more intimate when I visited the latest Louis Vuitton exhibition in town. “Louis Vuitton Series 2 – Past, Present and Future” invites one to step into the world of Nicolas Ghesquiรจre, LV’s creative director, and to explore his Spring/Summer 2015 women’s ready-to-wear collection from a refreshing and unconventional angle.
The exhibition consists different
themed rooms that, together, depict a journey. Beginning at the entrance with a
large LV logo projected infinitely in neon red light, visitors are prompted to
remember the history behind the iconic logo, the hallmark for the LV trunks
since 1854. On a similar note, another room called the “Magic Trunk” displays a
hologram of the classic trunk along with projections of images illustrating the
inspirations and creativity behind the LV then, now, and in the future.
When you enter “Talking Faces,”
just pretend you went back in time to October 1st, 2014 and were
invited to fly to Paris for the runway show, for this is the room that plays
the actual animation that opened the show last year! To experience the actual
show, head to the “Infinite Show” room at the end of the exhibition, where its
360°
projection of the collection allows you to truly immerse in the show. Standing
in the middle of the room, you feel as if the models are walking towards you,
as if the stunning 48 looks are just at your fingertip.
In fact, some of the pieces are! In
the “Accessories Gallery,” beautiful shoes and bags from the collection are
showcased on 3D avatars of model Marte Mei van Haaster. Personally, this was my
favorite space in the exhibition. There is something so serene, cool, and
almost unreal about that pristine white room. Against this minimal
backdrop, the colors of the accessories certainly pop and grab the attention in
the room.
If you want to feel like a VVIP,
then you definitely have to go “Backstage” and see where the actions
happen. See the models’ clothing racks.
Hear a French voice ushering the models. Let your imagination of the backstage
madness go wild!
This awesome exhibition is in town until
Feb 22nd at 1135 North Highland Avenue! I highly recommend you to go
check it out before the exhibition leaves LA makes its way to Beijing!
Stay Classy,
Silvia
